The Asian Poker Tour was established back in 2008. Since its inception more than ten years ago, the Asian Poker Tour or simply the APT has hosted over eighty major events and a number of smaller poker tournaments mostly in the Asia-Pacific area. The Asian Poker Tour has stopped at South Korea, Philippines, Australia, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Macau, London, and New Caledonia.

Since the tour’s inception, its events when combined have generated over $30 million in prize money which was awarded to participants. The very first Asian Poker Tour event was held in 2008 in Manila at the Dusit Thani Hotel venue- The winner of the Main Event was David Saab from Australia. That same year, the Asian Poker Tour for Macau was held at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino and the winner of the Main Event was Yevgeniy Timoshenko from the United States.

The Asian Poker Tour over the Years

Over the years, the Asian Poker Tour was held across the entire Asia-Pacific Region. In 2009, it was held in Macau and Philippines at the same venues as the very first event and the winners of the Main Events were Neil Arce from the Philippines and Adrien Allain from France. Then in 2010, the Asian Poker Tour has partnered with Resorts Wild Manila and this partnership has been active ever since.

The tour held some of its largest events in Resorts World Manila including the Asian Poker Toru RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge from 2013 which holds the Guinness World Records for the Longest Continuous Poker Tournament. In 2010, the Asian Poker Tour events were held also in Macau and Philippines with more different events in place including the Macau Poker Challenge, TPC Plugged In, Asian Poker King Tournament, TPC Wild ‘n Wet among others.

In 2011, the Asian Poker Tour Series Goa was held at the Casino Royale venue in India. That same year, the APT also held events at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino venue and Resorts World Manila in the Philippines. In the following years, the APT hosted some of its biggest events in Cambodia including its Asian Series from 2012, and Mauritius that same year.

The following year, the Asian Poker Tour Korea and Sydney were held. Back in 2014, the Asian Poker Tour Prague event was held while the next year, the Asian Poker Tour Vietnam took place at The Grand Ho Tram facility in Ho Tram, Vietnam. 2016 was also a very successful year for the Asian Poker Tour as events were held in Macau, New Caledonia, Philippines, South Korea, and Japan.

The Asian Poker Tour Taiwan Scheduled for March

The APT confirmed recently that the next stop planned for the following month in Taiwan will be held as planned. There were some plans regarding changing the schedule due to the Wuhan virus outbreak, but the Asian Poker Tour will run as previously scheduled from the 4^th until the 15^th of Match in Taipei, Taiwan.

According to the Chief Executive of the Asian Poker Tour Jeff Man, a lot of thought went into making this decision especially due to issues in Asia related to the coronavirus outbreak. Either way, the APT Taiwan stop will feature twenty-six events as planned while the guaranteed prize pool has been removed due to previously mentioned concerns. In order to prevent the spreading of the Wuhan virus, the organizers of the event will be implementing health checks and other measures throughout the entire event.
