As reported several days ago, fans of the Women’s National Basketball Association or the WNBA located in the state of Nevada were able to place real-money bets on the WNBA Draft 2020 following the main state’s gaming regulator’s decision to approve such activities. Back on Thursday, the Nevada Gaming Control Board decided to approve wagering on the Women’s National Basketball Association Draft for this year and the event started on the 17th of April at 7 pm ET.

Nonetheless, according to one report released by the Las Vegas Review Journal news outlet, it was not clear on Thursday whether online sportsbooks operating in the state of Nevada would have sports betting wagers related to the event available in time. The same news outlet shared that on Thursday when the decision was made by the Nevada Gaming Control Board, none of the four bookies’ mobile sports betting apps which are still operations had props for the WNBA Draft 2020 posted.

These four active mobile sports betting apps which are still operations in the state of Nevada are Circa Sports, Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, and William Hill. Other bookies are not operational at the moment due to the temporary closures caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. At the same time, those four remaining bookies offer Nevada residents mobile sports betting activities.

2020 WNBA Draft Props’ Conditions

According to the same report released by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, props on the 2020 WNBA Draft event were not posted on certain players and that according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board, those props posted on specific players have to cease within twenty-four hours of the event’s start and this window had already closed at the time the four bookies were allowed to post wagering options at their mobile apps.

Then, there is a massive collection of other terms and conditions that sportsbooks must follow and all of these are crafted by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. According to the provisions related to Regulation 22.1201, bookies looking forward to offering real-money wagering activities in the state of Nevada must recognize a series of conditions. For instance, licensed sportsbooks operational in Nevada which want to offer sports betting activities have to provide the main Enforcement Division with notification of all terms via e-mail.

Licensed bookies in Nevada have to make the setting of betting odds, all rules and all other terms and conditions related to the betting odds public. Moreover, acceptance of bets related to a specific player has to cease twenty-four hours before the first round starts. Furthermore, acceptance of other bets has to cease before the draft starts.

Virtual WNBA 2020 Draft

As expected, the Women’s National Basketball Association conducted a virtual draft due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, so there were no guests, media or players involved. The professional league’s Commissioner Cathy Engelbert announced the 2020 WNBA Draft picks and the event was broadcasted live on ESPN. Moreover, the league’s major prospects also took part remotely.

Commenting on the news about the virtual WNBA Draft, Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said that this year’s draft’s altered format celebrated the most exceptional players while at the same time it safeguarded the well-being and health of employees, players, prospects and everyone else involved.
