A groundbreaking ceremony took place several days ago for the massive, 100,000 square foot resort which is currently being constructed in Hempfield Township which is located around thirty miles from Pittsburgh’s downtown area. The company which is responsible for this $150 million-worth project is the Cordish Companies previously known as the Cordish Company.
The Cordish Companies is a United States-based entertainment and real estate development firm with headquarters on the sixth floor of the Street Power Plant located in Baltimore. The company has an extremely rich and long history which spans back to 1910 when the company was founded by Louis Cordish. Later on, in 1933, the founder’s son decided to join the family business.
In 1968, David Cordish also joined the company and served as its CEO and chairman alongside other family members. Today, the company is responsible for several divisions including its Entertainment Management, Real Estate Development, and Private Equity Holdings divisions. In recent years, the company has been awarded ULI Awards for its excellence and positive impact in the cities where it operates.
Stadium Casino Westmoreland to Replace the Bon-Ton Store
When it comes to the company’s latest business venture, its mini-casino located at Moreland Mall, the main efforts came from its subsidiary the Stadium Casino Westmoreland RE, LLC. The company which is responsible for the project is already working on replacing the popular Bon-Ton store which decided to shut down its doors in the Westmoreland Mall in August of 2018.
Before the construction of the new casino at Moreland Mall took place, the state’s Senator Mr. Wand as well as the state’s Representatives including George Dunbar joined the company’s execs alongside several regional and local businesses. Once all of the mandatory licenses were in place, the construction started and the company responsible for the project expects the venue to generate around $188 million in its yearly economic impact.
What is even more, the construction is also expected to add an addition of $148 million in general economic impact including almost one thousand both indirect and direct construction jobs alongside some five hundred permanent jobs for regional and local residents. Commenting on the news, the company’s Principal Jon Cordish said that his company is extremely pleased to finally start working on its Live! Casino project which will definitely help the company expand its unique brand further in the state of Pennsylvania.
Features of the Property
When it comes to the features of the property, it will include several entertainment, dining, and gaming areas. Its gaming floor is expected to include around thirty live-action tables and around seven hundred and fifty slot games which are the maximum as allowed by the state’s law regarding Category Four casinos.
It was also revealed that the property will include a sportsbook Sports and Social Steel City. Besides, the property will also include the four hundred and forty-five sports restaurant on two levels alongside a massive social lounge for all sportsbetting fans and other visitors.
In addition to these features, the venue will include a great assortment of social games including a golf simulator, pink pong, bowling and even more. Besides operating this venue, the Cordish Companies are already responsible for Live Casino and Hotel located in Arundel Mills Maryland while it is currently working on adding another Live Casino in Philadelphia.
