The Oneida Indian Nation is a fully federally-recognized tribe with headquarters in the state of New York. Today, the federally-recognized tribe owns tribal lands in Canastota, Oneida and Verona, New York where it managed several different businesses including Class III casinos. The Oneida Indian Nation set up its Oneida Nation Enterprises which is a company through which the tribe operates gaming businesses mainly in Central New York.
For many years, Oneida Nation Enterprises was the most prominent, the biggest employer of the region with around five thousand jobs offered in total. The company’s businesses include a bingo hall that opened its doors in the early 90s. Eventually, the Oneida Indian Nation opened several gambling facilities. The first one to open its doors was the Turning Stone Casino and Resort opened in 1993.
After the landmark settlement between Oneida and Madison Counties from 2013, the Oneida Indian Nation opened its second casino, the Yellow Brick Road Casino in June of 2015. Then on the 3rd of March last year, the tribe opened its third casino, the Point Place Casino located in Bridgeport, New York.
Yellow Brick Road Casino
As previously mentioned, the Oneida Indian Nation opened its second casino, the Yellow Road Brick Casino in June of 2015. The casino is inspired by the popular movie and book, the Wizard of Oz and it indirectly honors the book’s writer L. Frank Baum. The venue is located in Chittenango, New York and it features a massive 67,000 square feet gaming area packed with over four hundred slot machines that are open 24/7.
The casino also features a massive selection of table games which are held from Sunday to Wednesday at different times. Just recently, the Oneida Indian Nation has announced a business scheme which will see its iconic Yellow Brick Road Casino significantly expanded to host an amazing range of brand-new amenities including a massive bowling alley which will surely attract more visitors.
As reported by the local newspaper Observer-Dispatch as well as by The Post Standard news outlet, the expansion project for the facility is actually a continuation of the Oneida India Nation’s $10 million-worth plan which was recently revealed. Before the plan on expansion was revealed, the Chittenango-based casino created over one hundred and twenty-five new job positions thanks to debuting a sportsbook after partnering with Scientific Games Corporation.
Plenty of New Amenities Planned
The Oneida Indian Nation’s officials commented on the news detailing that they will be able to complete the Yellow Brick Road Casino’s expansion sometime by February. The federally-recognized tribe said that alongside bowling alley, Madison County-venue will also feature a bar and several new restaurants which will complement its newly opened sportsbook. The facility will also include an indoor golf course as well as a separate gaming area with lounge games including pool and shuffleboard.
The Observer-Dispatch news outlet also reported that the tribe’s expansion plan for its Yellow Brick Road Casino also includes updating the venue’s exterior façade to that it matches its indoor aesthetics which are combinations of industrial New York’s history with 21st Century modern look.
Commenting on the news, the Oneida Indian Nation’s CEO Ray Halbritter said that the renovations involve the facility being fully transformed so that the Yellow Road Brick Casino becomes a multi-entertainment facility unlike anything else offered in the region. He also added that additional jobs will be created as well in the process.
